    The partnership between the Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival and the Sochi International Film Festival and Awards was officially announced in Sochi at a press conference attended by international press. It marks the start of cultural exchanges under the auspice of the Russian Ministry of Culture as well as the prospects of developing co-productions between both countries. Ramsgate IFTVFest Director Sylvie Bolioli participated at SIFFA 2019 as Head of the Documentary Jury. ‘It was a wonderful opportunity to see a different aspect of Russia, far from the dull representation that media often portray. I also watched movies that I’m keen to screen at our Festival. I’m really looking forward to our future ventures.’

  • The Bridging the Borders Award is coming to Ramsgate

    The Bridging the Borders Award is coming to Ramsgate

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Bridging the Borders Award, sponsored by Geoenergetics were created 11 years ago by Filmmaker, Author and Editor in Chief of Cinema Without Borders, Bijan Tehrani. “The idea behind the Bridging The Borders Award, bridging and connecting the people of our world closer together, has made it a great success during its ten years of highlighting films in several local and international festivals.”

    The Award is offered at prestigious film festivals such as Palm Spring International Film Festival in the US. We are proud to announce that CWB has chosen the Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival as the next festival they wish to partner with to present the Bridging the Borders Award in 2020. This is another major step for Ramsgate IFTVFest in its efforts to expand its reach beyond the white cliffs of Kent.

    Films have been nominated or considered for an OSCAR or other major awards after winning Bridging The Borders Award. Darryl McDonald, Executive Director at the Palm Springs International Film Festival said: “The Award has produced a remarkable track record, encompassing films that have won a total of 79 awards at major international festivals and esteemed national or international film competitions (including five of those six films having been selected as their countries’ official submissions to the Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film). The prestige of the award internationally has been growing in a way very much in keeping with that track record, as each subsequent year has produced a winner of this award that has gone on to receive broad-based acclaim and recognition from other events following its US premiere at the Palm Springs event.”

    We are all the more honoured with this new collaboration that Ramsgate IFTVFest is the first non US film festival where the Bridging the Borders Award will be presented.

    It also reaffirms our desire to champion talents who use the art of cinema to promote and bring challenging themes to light. Very exciting days ahead indeed!

    On Thursday 4th July, at the Civic Service Ceremony during which local organisations were celebrated for the work they did for Ramsgate and its residents, Raushan Ara, Mayor of Ramsgate awarded the Certificate of Appreciation to the Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival.  The Mayor went on praising the Festival and its members for the impact it had on local businesses.

SIFFA Founder and President was our special guest at the Discussion Panel ‘Women in the Film and TV Industry – The Glass Ceiling’. This new collaboration will give Ramsgate IFTVFest the opportunity to expand its already international reach far beyond the screening of films and events in Thanet, UK. It will open up more opportunities to promote not only the gorgeous the only Royal Harbour town in the UK, but also support independent filmmakers by exchanging the best films. We will also be able to celebrate Russian new cinema as well as explore its plethore of classic art work. Looking forward to developing our links with SIFFA.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

  • £220 raised for Flying Fur Animal Rescue at Ramsgate IFTVFest 2019!

    £220 were raised on Saturday 15 June thanks to the K9 photocall and the generosity of the Ramsgate IFTVFest attendees. Local residents came with their pooches and made a donation to get a picture of their dogs on the red carpet. The money was given to the charity Flying Fur Animal Rescue, doing an amazing job to save dogs and cats from killer shelters and euthanization, thanks to its dedicated pilot Paul Steklenski. A film, Flying Fur was made about the amazing man and his plane by filmmakers Alicia Wszelaki and Matthew Nothelfer. It was screened at Ramsgate IFTVFest 2019 to a moved audience, prompting even more donations.

  • Filmmaking workshops in partnership with the Kent Film Foundation, sponsored by TESCO

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Ramsgate International Film Festival also provides filmmaking courses for the community, in partnership with Kent Film Foundation, and has worked with Ramsgate schools to give children and young people the possibility to improve their learning skills in a fun and entertaining way.
