SYNOPSIS

Gray, a guide from Dalian, acts like a host introducing the Scottish Highlands to new Chinese students, although he still lives a wandering life in Edinburgh, sometimes alone in a rented flat, but more often on the road. He seems to be living in the air, present in his moving car, in the words of his carefully constructed social media, and in his dreams.

SYNOPSIS

Seyed Jalal, a blind 86 years old man and his wife Bibi Soraya, 80 years old with chronic nerve disease live in poverty conditions. Their two sons moved to the city. They got devastating news about their son’s brain death. The old fragile blind father has to make a decision whether to donate his son’s healthy parts to help 16 other patients.

Five years later, the crew-team visits the old couple. Jalal is now very old, fragile and a sick man. His mind and soul is ready to leave this world. His last wish before he dies, he asked the camera crew-team to find the person

MEET THE DIRECTOR

Yaser Talebi, born in a Northern city in Iran in 1982, is a film director, producer, screenwriter, and editor who has also made his name as a creative director.

Yaser is a member of the Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association (IRDFA), and his films have been screened at festivals worldwide and won numerous awards.

In his documentary, he chose the observation method. The basis of observational documentaries is that the audience, watching the film, realizes that in the absence of a camera, everyday reality would have taken place – the genre seeks to avoid judgment.

He has made many documentaries for television. Including a series of travel documentaries that examine and introduce history, civilization, rituals and traditions, ancient sites, delicious food, etc.
he was a jury member at the International Outdoor Documentary Film Festival of China OUTDOCS in 2021 and the Pambujan International Film Festival in 2022 in the Eastern Philippines and The main jury of the 3rd Tbilisi International Internet Short Film Festival Diogenes 2022

SYNOPSIS

Two British artists: the lesbian portrait painter Sadie Lee and the non-binary writer Libro Levi Bridgeman happen to have been born on the same day. They meet to collaborate on a portrait of Libro and discuss their lives from the 1980s onwards. Now, after 3 years, Sadie is ready to uncover the painting. This short documentary follows Sadie and Libro’s friendship and the collaboration’s surprising reveal. The portrait is a first for art, important for queer politics and sensational to see. Showing a queerer side of queer we’ve never seen before.

MEET THE DIRECTOR

 

Sarah Myland has worked in television for 25 years and this is her first foray into the world of Short Films since leaving film school many years ago. Sarah trained as a Cinematographer achieving a BA in Film Video and Animation and an MA in Film Production (Lighting Camera). Sarah spent many years as one of the few female Lighting Cameramen in TV until a chance to move across the floor into production as a Series Director arose in 2010. The recent collaboration with close friend Sadie Lee also rekindled a relationship with Libro Levi Bridgeman, first formed at film school in a short lesbian film that Sarah worked on called “The Last Time”.

Aqueous Humour is a documentary chronicling one of the 1990s least famous bands. It was constructed from photographs, reel to reel tapes, cassettes, VHS footage and boxes of documents which had sat in a cupboard untouched for thirty years.

MEET THE DIRECTOR

 

Edgar Calel was born in 1987 in San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala, where he lives and works. His artistic work is a continuous search for the translation of the Maya-Kaqchikel worldview (culture to which he belongs) into other contemporary languages. He works primarily with themes related to the indigenous practices of his community, Maya spirituality, rituals, identity, and migration. His paintings, videos, installations and performances have been exhibited in Latin America, USA and Europe, in spaces such as the 11th Berlin Biennial of Contemporary Art, Tate Museum, Museo Reina Sofía, etc.

 

 

Born in Brazil, Fernando Pereira dos Santos is a documentarist and producer. His first film is a media length “Mapuche – Gente da Terra”, 2012. In 2015 participated in the Ateliers Varan documentary Lab; the next year, attended a residency at LABMIS, where directed the short length film “Admiração de João Garganta”. Producer of “Fabiana” (directed by Brunna Laboissiere, 2018, attended the BIFF Brasília, IFF São Paulo, IFF Rotterdam, IFF IndieLisboa, IFF Málaga, etc.). Nowadays, produces the documentaries “Babylon” (directed by Chico Bahia – Doculab by DocSP, co production meeting in Guadalajara IFF, Lab Filma Afro by Ibermedia, La Fabrique Cinéma) and “Samuel and the Light” (directed by Vinicius Girnys – Doculab by DocSP, DocsBarcelona pitching, Fipa Docs Biarritz, and Ibaia’s Award of the best project in San Sebastian IFF). In 2022 releases the short film “XAR – Sueño de Obsidiana”, commissioned by Berlin Biennale.
