MEET THE DIRECTOR

Richard Boddington is an Emmy-nominated Canadian filmmaker known for his work in family adventure films. His passion for filmmaking began at age 12, using Super 8, and was solidified after seeing E.T. in 1982. He later attended film school in the U.S. and worked as a producer at the CTV Network from 1995 to 2000.
Boddington made his directorial debut with Dark Reprieve (2008), a self-financed sci-fi thriller. He followed with The Dogfather (2010), a family comedy starring Chris Parnell. In 2014, he wrote, directed, and produced Against the Wild, a survival adventure that earned him an Emmy nomination. The film’s success led to Against the Wild 2: Survive the Serengeti (2016), shot in South Africa, and Against the Wild III: The Journey Home (2021), distributed by Lionsgate as Hero Dog: The Journey Home.
In 2018, Boddington released Phoenix Wilder and the Great Elephant Adventure, starring Elizabeth Hurley. The film, a powerful statement against elephant poaching, premiered at the Durban International Film Festival and had a major theatrical release in the U.S. under the title An Elephant’s Journey.
Expanding into fantasy adventure, Boddington wrote and directed Wickensburg (2021), starring Denise Richards, followed by its sequels Return to Wickensburg (2023) and Secrets of Wickensburg (2024).
In 2024, he completed LA Jesus, a drama about an executive who meets a homeless man claiming to be Jesus Christ, set for a 2025 release.
Boddington’s films have achieved worldwide distribution, airing on major networks such as HBO Max, STARZ, TF1, and Channel 5. Known for his commitment to using real animals in his work, he continues to create films that captivate audiences with adventure, heart, and cinematic authenticity.
