Dezo Hoffman was The Beatles official photographer, working with the Rolling Stones and other rock stars of the second half of the 20th century. This feature-length documentary about the globally acclaimed Slovak photographer, who until recently was almost forgotten, highlights the importance of Dezo Hoffmann’s influence on the development of the world of photography – his originality, creativity and not yet fully appreciated innovation, thanks to which his photographs have become and indelible part of the history of pop music.

MEET THE DIRECTOR

Patrik Lančarič is a renown Slovak theatre director, with projects and productions in theatres across Europe – Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, England, Holland, Portugal and Switzerland. His interest in authenticity in documentary terms is apparent in both his theatrical and film work. Several of Lancaric’s productions make great use of projection on the stage as well as authentic audio and video material. He established himself as a film director with his feature title Interview With the Enemy (2007). A year later, he directed the documentary Ladislav Chudik (2008) – a portrait of the eminent Slovak actor. Lancaric’s most significant work is the remarkable film project The Edge – 4 Films About Marek Brezovský (2014). His latest production is Dezo Hoffmann – Photographer of The Beatles (2022), which was awarded the Slovak national film award Sun in Net for Best Documentary.
After graduating at the Academy (screenwriting) Laura Siváková-Paššová worked with Agnieszka Holland, Kevin Connor, John Harrison, Peter McDonald act as a script supervisor, director assistant or casting director.
