Sara Werner is an award-winning queer filmmaker from Cape May, NJ, currently based in LA where they direct narrative, experimental, and commercial film. While they do not enjoy writing about themselves in third person, they are passionate about creating stories with themes focused on urgent social issues and profound characters with long bios that will inspire audiences and touch at least one lonely queer kid out there like they were. They see you, hear you and hope you know you are loved. Sara built their on-set experience working as an assistant director and in G&E.
They received their M.F.A. from the University of Miami after making an award-winning debut as a Writer/Director with their first short film about a survivor of human trafficking. Their first horror short won best film at both Shriekfest and NYC Horror Film Film Festival. Their work has been featured by Bloody Disgusting, Deadline, Dread Central, Outfest, Raindance, Revry, and Shudder. They have helped produce and direct viral content for clients such as the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Marvel, and Vogue.
